Bourns Sport Horses continue to impress this month on the eventing scene with success stories Portersize Just A Jiff and Strawberry Box showing their star quality.

Camilla Speirs and Portersize Just A Jiff kept Irish hopes of Olympic qualification high when finishing second in the CCI3* at Boekelo, Holland. Purchased as a four year old from Andrew Bourns by Bridget Speirs, Portersize Just A Jiff showed promise from the very beginning and has continued to go from strength to strength.

Keeping a clean sheet in the show jumping phase, Speirs guaranteed the runner up spot with the reliable eleven year old Crosskeys Rebel gelding when New Zealand’s Mark Todd dropped two fences.

Not only did Speirs fault free performance gain sixty seven ranking points towards the 2012 London Olympic Games, leaving the Kildare native in a strong position in her bid for Olympic qualification, but it also ensured that the Irish side finished third overall in the team competition.

Fourteen year old Yorkshire native Toby Bell ensured Bourns Sport Horses were well represented in Great Britain when taking the victory in the Autumn Pony two-star three day event at Weston Park aboard the nine year old Strawberry Box.

Partnered with the flashy strawberry roan gelding since his five year old year, Bell came out in front of a strong field when finishing on 52.90 penalties well clear of nearest rivals Camilla Hope and Abbey Prince on 54.10.
